Scottish Lady Seonaid Dunbar (24) and English born Lord Blake Sherwell (30)...neither wanting marriage but are nevertheless honor bound to a betrothal forced upon them, (when they were children) by their fathers who are no longer speaking to each other. He has the usual attributes of a hero character...pride and arrogance and LOTS of conceit (Gods gift to wimmin)...She is best described as a tall statuesque Scottish Amazon Barbarian Warrior...however beautiful. I loved her strong character. No wimpy simpering Lass she!! And her pride is miffed by the fact that this fella is 10 yrs. late in claiming her.

Basically a story best described by the Title...Lord Blake chases this Warrior gal all over Scotland and she runs...he chases, she runs some more until she's caught.

I was confused though...WHY doesn't Seonaid recognize her Clan Colors (when she see's Blake wearing her fathers Plaid??). I mean, it's HER CLAN COLORS for cripes sake. A few discrepancies that don't jive in the foundation of this story. For this Author to imply that plaids were "easy to find" (like they're laying around willynilly) is absurd. Plaids were guarded! And to suggest that anyone could travel around Scotland lickity-split just because he wears a plaid is historically untrue. True, it would be easier to travel unhampered dressed in Plaid than dressed in English garb, but some Clans had unresolved feuds/disagreements etc. And until these issues were resolved, you did not cross their border(s) [if you were a feuding Clan] whether you wore plaid or not.

And when Amaury and Emmalene are mentioned (from the first book, "The Deed")...why is there no mention of Emma's pregnancy or IF she's had her baby?? If you're gonna bring these characters back, hand us a clue!!!!

Also, there are some discrepancies to the info. that was given to us from Book #2 "The Key"...that is, Seonaids cousin has a name change in this book "The Chase"...and the secret tunnel has been moved from Duncans room to Seonaids room.. Keep the info. straight.

All in all, a great story and vastly entertaining & humorous. Definitely worth the read!

The Chase Lynsay Sands 9780843953244 Books Reviews

This was a great read. Fast paced with laugh out loud moments. Loved all the characters. Very witty! Will be reading more books by this author for sure.
I wasn't sure if I would like the historical undertones that are throughout this series but the.more I read the more.I.want to read.
This book was an enjoyable and fun book. I like when the men are attracted and enjoy the company of a women that does not fit the normal image!
Sands tells a story that is gripping, fun and romantic. She is a master and you cannot go wrong with any of her books. This book is well written and keeps you glued to the pages. I love this book and cannot say enough wonderful stuff about L. Sands.
I just love the way she writes. Another interesting book with good characters. Would have like to hear what happened to Rolfe and Helen or for them to have their own book, but that was not covered. Would have also liked for her to include in the book Blake and Amaury(The Deed) making up. It was good to see Blake get his own story. I like Seonaid as well. I do not remember her from The Key as I read that story a long time ago. I seemed to remember it was a a good book, but just can not get myself to read the book again, as I have problems with Duncan being stinky thru the whole book. Just not what i am looking for. The Chase was worth the read. Not as much humor as her other ones, but a great book all the same.
I liked the way this book started. I like all of Lynsey Sand’s books. They are easy reads with colorful characters. However sometimes there seems to be a mad rush to terminate everything. In this book it sort of left me with with lots of questions. What happened to Lord Rolf and Helen and Blake’s best friend? Do they mend fences? Why do primary characters in one book so downplayed in another? They don’t even seem to have the same spunky personalities. Perhaps all will be answered in another book?
Blake Sherwell and Seonaid Dunbar have been betrothed from childhood; he has never sought to go ahead and claim her due to the fact both of their fathers had a falling out shortly after the betrothal and neither one wanted to forfeit a dowry. Now Blake is forced to marry Seonaid because Richard II has ordered him to. Blake is none too happy and has been delaying the journey, pestering Rolfe Kenwick, Richard's man sent to see the wedding takes place, regarding Seonaid's looks, nature and intelligence. Rolfe is tired of the continual questions; although he almost feels sorry for Blake marrying into this family. Upon arrival to Dunbar Castle, he sees no bride or anyone else to welcome him; he does overhear the guards wagering how long he will last. Inside the keep Blake finds Angus, Seonaid's father; when Blake inquires to his bride, Angus tells him that he is too late; "the lass done flew the chicken cavie". Blake asks where she went and Angus replies, "I dinna ask". Blake later discovers Seonaid has gone to St. Simmians where he follows her to bring her back. He finds to his surprise, a woman in braies with a knife in each hand, plus Seonaid does not want him, which is a blow to his ego; he isn't called the "Angel" for no reason; with his good looks and manner, he has never had a problem with any woman wanting him, up until now.
