I enjoyed this fast-paced coming-of-age story that takes place in a a medieval kingdom that resembles Galicia, in Northern Spain. A feisty young princess loves horses and sword-fighting more than the usual princess pursuits such as flirtation and ballroom dancing. The story becomes even more interesting when Princess Andrea steps into a cave and discovers a portal that leads her to modern-day California—in a parallel universe. There’s never a dull moment, wherever the Princess is! She struggles to heal a difficult relationship with her mother, causes a war between kingdoms, and experiences love and loss.

I'm so excited to be part of the blog tour for Two Moon Princess. This book really takes the idea of a stubbornly indendent main character and spins it in a unique way that had me addicted, especially during the second half of the book.
Andrea doesn't want to have anything to do with being a lady, or the girly aspects of her station. I loved reading about her attempts to prove herself to her parents, and her efforts to be true to herself, no matter what others expected of her. She stuck to her convictions even if she risked offending royalty.
Though the book seemed a bit slow in the beginning, it quickly picked up pace until I was flying through the pages at the finish. The contrast between modern day California and the more medieval world that Andrea lives in was nicely portrayed. I liked how the entire concept of crossing between worlds was intrduced, and that the routes of Andrea's people were tied into this.
Another great aspect of the book is that it is not a love story at its foremost. It seems that every single novel I read is centered around romance, and this was a welcome break. Andrea is a fierce, loyal lead character that definitely struck a chord with me. I can't wait to read more about her and the rest of the cast of characters.
Simply put, an adventure that you will read again and again. Carmen has balanced the art of action, suspense, drama, and love. A wonderful read to any active mind.
I enjoyed this story very much...very different. I found it very hard to put down. I hope you enjoy it too.
This book was a nice change of pace. At first glance I thought great, another knight and princess story. But then the book takes a big twist. Great read for vacation. It took me a few chapters to become invested in the story. After that it was a fun read.
Fast paced and full of twists, Two Moon Princess follows Andrea, a strong-willed princess, from her Spanish Medieval world to present day California and back.
While her unplanned return to her own world with a Californian boy brings war to Andrea's kingdom, her brave and at times foolish attempts to stop the war and keep the American boy alive has unforeseen consequences that will change her forever.
A feminine protagonist girls can admire, Andrea's daring, strength, powers of observation and compassion lead her and us to discoveries about our world and ourselves.
The characters are fully realized and the romance, forbidden and unexpected, makes for a deeply satisfying ending.
This is an excellent fantasy book for children and adults alike. I highly recommend it.
Princess Andrea, the captivating heroine of this book, has grown up in a mythical kingdom that is definitely "long ago and far away". It is a place full of castles, knights, fair ladies, enchanting, mysterious landscapes, and enough action, adventure and romance to enthrall 'tween and young teens in a big way. Now that she is 14, Andrea is expected to give up her tomboyish ways, relinquish her freedom and become a "lady" with a captal "L". Predictably she rebels and the result is a spellbinding adventure in which Andrea steps through a magical doorway into an essentially modern world, falls in love, uncovers deep family secrets, saves her father's kingdom and in the process negotiates the tricky path from childhood to young adulthood with great aplomb. The writing is excellent, the historical detail accurate, and the action exciting. AS a parent, I give this one an A+
The plot moved well. Some of the characterization was a bit stilted, but the story held me regardless. There were a few places where the plot got a little muddled or confusing, but the end was perfect, and a surprise!
I think it could have been improved, but is pretty good as is.
